I have a strong sense that some new light is about to shine....
Perhaps the next change of policy will now be to DISFELLOWSHIP CHILD ABUSERS?
I do hope this prophecy will come true. -

Sadly, most JW's wont bat an eyelid. As long as it's not in their congregation or affecting their kids, it doesn't make any difference to them. Tomorrow something else will be in the news and they will continue to bury their heads in the sand.
A close JW friend said to me a few months ago "I don't care if there are 10,000 paeodophiles in the congregation!" - I think with a 13 month old baby girl and 2 other young kids, she may come to think differently.
The mind control is as effective as ever. -

Destroying One's Faith
by Sunspot inthe jws are always grumbling that former jws are trying to "destroy their faith" and that they have nothing nice to say about the men who write for the watchtower or their peculiar teachings.. but then---jws go to people's homes and try to convince them that they should stop:.
praising jesus,.
celebrating or honoring their lord and savior on his resurrection or on his birth,.

fresia - unless you've been disfellowshipped/shunned/lost your family to the JW's you have NO IDEA how much pain some people are carrying around with them. When you put an animal in a cage and you stab him with a knife, he is going to lash out - give others a break, leave them be, they may not always be that way, just be grateful you don't share their pain.
Jesus said "if they are not against me, they are for me". If some are vicious, they will have to deal with the consequences of their actions and "what goes around, come around" - it doesn't make any JW's more or less worthy if they don't act as bad.
We all have the responsibility to show we are decent people and love and respect others, that's all our heavenly father asks of us. -

Did Jesus really die on a cross?
by moomanchu inbelieve it or not this was the very very begining of my demise as a dub.. i picked the simplest thing that dubs disagree with christians on and i thought surely i could come to a conclusion as to wether dubs were right or christendom was right.i wanted to start building my foundation of faith in them.. i can't believe they are still using this stupid illustration of the loved one murdered by the weapon illustration!.
idiots, jesus wasn't murdered he gave his life ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
they have this on their site.. http://www.watchtower.org/e/200604a/article_01.htm.

Someone once said to me that the great thing about the cross (the one without the wee man) was that when they looked at it it reminded them HE WASN'T ON IT ANYMORE! He had been resurrected and conquered sin and death and it was something to be CELEBRATED.
Also, someone else when I threw the typical JW weapon illustration, came back with "well if someone had taken a bullet and died instead of my daughter taking that bullet, I would wear a gun round my neck!" he couldn't see anything wrong with wearing something as a reminder that someone else died for us.
Outnfree sums it up for me in that it stands for us to contemplate the great gift we received for free. -

Who Knows Anything About Being A Charity?
by sweet pea inmy real question is - "how can the watchtower bible & tract society get away with being called a charity?
they don't seem to do any charitable works within the community, they get free labour to develop their property empire and they're a publishing company.

CONVERSATION WITH MY JW SISTER LAST NIGHT......
by Mary inwell i guess this was a long time in coming, but yesterday afternoon, my family all got together and had a bbq at my parents' home.
when my parents left at around 6:00pm to drive my one non-dub sister home, my other sister and brother in law (former elder), stayed for a while longer.. we've never discussed my leaving 'the truth' a couple of years ago but she brought it up last night and we started talking about the religion.
everyone had been drinking but no one was drunk, so alot got said.

Mary, I keep having these circular conversations with my mother - "oh, but Jah has always used an organisation; only Witnesses do the preaching work; the apostles and Israelites did terrible things but Jehovah still used them as his people and forgave them everything (well, until Jesus came along and told them hey had to change their religion!).
I told her this week that I'm not prepared to discuss anything else UNTIL she reads Crisis of Conscience becuse only then will she even BEGIN to understand why I have left and why I'm not coming back.
Nothing like emotional blackmail.....
Wish you all the best whatever happens next.

Correct me if I'm wrong please? My motive isn't to be vindictive I just fail to see the justice in being called a charity and getting the perks of one when they don't seem to strike me as acting like one.
I know in France the Witnesses are not looked on favourably, partly to do with this one issue, and that their tax status has been investigated and found wanting. Is there any chance that this scenario could be played out on the world scene?
I have today requested a copy of the 'Governing Document' from the UK Charities Commission which should outline their legal obligations as a charity - it'll be interesting to see what they are and if they meet them. If they are contravening them in ANY way the Commission suggests approaching them to ask them why and give them the opportunity to address these concerns. One could also report them directly to the Charities Commission.
Thoughts anyone? -

What Positive Things Have You Achieved Since Leaving?
by sweet pea inpurps' wonderful thread about love made me wonder about something else.
what have you achieved/become since leaving the organisation that proves there is a happy, successful life outside being a jehovah's witness?
for me, although it's only been a very short time, too short to achieve much, i count becoming: non-judgemental of my fellow man; a mum that can give her kids all the room to grow and blossom without fear of 'sinning' or being kicked out for bad behaviour; a person that can feel comfortable worshipping in a church or not, depending on whatever i feel like doing; someone who can love and give freely and celebrate life in all it's glory (i just love birthdays!
